My name is Amber and I have officially been in the counseling field since January 2022 and graduated in December 2022 with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been fortunate to be with McCullough, Vargas, and Associates since beginning work in the field in January 2022. However, much of what I know and bring to the field also includes 22 years of experience working in federal corrections, offering education in health & wellness, art, music, and sports for those incarcerated in an effort to prepare them for release back into the community.
My passion in work has always included working with individuals in maximizing their physical, mental, and emotional health with bodywork, breathwork, and therapeutic movement. In addition to my education in mental health counseling, I also have training in massage therapy, energy work, and exercise science. The connection that lies between our minds, hearts, and physical bodies remains a foundation to both my former career and my present work in clinical mental health and addiction counseling. I offer both individual and group therapy and specifically facilitate groups that include, but are not limited to, CBT and DBT-informed interventions, mindfulness-based anger management, MRT (Moral Reconation Therapy) groups, and trauma-informed yoga group interventions designed to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
I have a deep love for the outdoors, nature, and animals of all kinds which will often find their way into the therapeutic work I do with clients. My ultimate hope is that everyone who comes into my space feels respected and deeply accepted in every way. I believe each client is the architect of their own healing and I simply offer an open and non-judgmental space to do that work in partnership with the client.
